Mmmm...pancakes...

Well, today is officially Pancake Day. Unlike last Tuesday, which Dad thought it was. I think I'm just about pancaked out though. There was a small army of volunteers cooking and selling pancakes in Forrest Chase in the city this morning. Although I personally don't think they were proper pancakes - for starters, they were made from a shake-n-cook pack. Then the pancakes weren't exactly my definition of a pancake (our pancakes being slightly more like crepes to you furreners) as it was about 10mm thick. Topped off with a choice of syrup or fake lemon juice and sugar. I then wandered across the city to my office holding a paper plate with a "pancake" on it, impaled with a plastic spork. And the spork was totally ineffective with dealing with this pancake - I ended up rolling the pancake up and using my hands!

I met up with a friend at lunch, but we never even thought about going to the pancake restaurant. I was amazed to hear that she'd never heard of such a thing as Pancake Day! However, I was happy to hear that she's getting discharged from Hospital on Thursday, and resuming Uni life next week. I hope she manages to get through this year without needing to go back to hospital again.

I also watched a minute amount of the Video Hits program on Saturday. I never usually watch those sorts of programs, but for whatever reason I ended up catching the music clip to Scissor Sisters I Don't Feel Like Dancing (You Tube Video!). I started watching it, and couldn't help but think it reminded me of the Fireys dancing in Labyrinth. Then I saw a "shadow" part-way through, and realised that they were using the same technique. I've also seen the shadow people technique used really well in a stage production of "The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe" several years ago.
