I've been feeling a tad stressed out lately, which seems to result in me getting depressed. I know that I need a holiday. Unfortunately it seems to be my luck that everyone else at work is having time off in the near future. I would've liked to have next week off, due to some problems with public transport, making getting to and from work a bit awkward. All I can say is that I'm very thankful I live on the Joondalup line and not the Fremantle line. Unfortunately, the other admin person is having part of that week off already, and can't shift her holiday since she's flying to Melbourne to meet up with her sister.
I had my 10 year high school reunion a few weeks ago at the Breakwater Tavern at Hillarys Boat Harbour. It was odd seeing how little some people have changed. I was rathered surprised to see that the girl who'd organised it all had married a guy from our class. I didn't think they'd really moved in the same social groups in school, so they must've hooked up afterwards.
Out of the 9 other people I hung round with in high school, only two showed up that night - both of them guys. The majority of people there were all in groups I didn't really mix with much, except in class. I ended up standing at the edge of the bar area for most of the night just observing people. On the plus side, I did discover who yelled at me a few weeks before Christmas last year while I was waiting for the bus one morning - turned out it was one of the guys I went to school with.
I also worked out just before my reunion that I was theoretically working four jobs, yet only getting paid for one.
1. Office admin job that I'm paid for
2. Through the above job, I was doing a whole pile of admin stuff for an organisation my boss is treasurer for (still am - I get to handle lots of money, though (not to keep, sadly)).
3. Administration and newsletter stuff for Tai Chi
4. Deputy Curator at MoH (My favourite title ;-) ) - although technically this isn't really a job.
After having exhausted my creativity on bashing out the latest newsletter for tai chi earlier this month, I found I've been wanting to do something crafty. And for some reason, glass painting sprung to mind. I did a bit of glass painting back in school - I actually did it for a project in one of my art classes when I wasn't impressed with the projects on offer.
The art project:
It's a light fitting. One day, I'd love to be able to hook this into the mains and see it lit up.
Sadly, I hadn't touched my paints seriously since high school, and they had all dried up in their bottles (one bottle even looked as though it had imploded somehow). Which started a hunt for more paints. Which resulted in a trek on foot from work to an art store about 1km away. With my mum. At least I came away with the paints I wanted. Plus a couple of sheets of pretty paper - one black and one red, with gold dragons printed all over both...Sometimes I just can't walk past a dragon! But now I have my paints, so now I just need to start practicing and designing.
Tonight I have a tai chi sword demonstration at the Chung Wah Cultural Centre for the Chinese National Day dinner being held there. I've already been told that photos are to be taken (for the newsletter next term). So you may see them on here at some stage in the not-too-distant future.
Also, some people may remember me saying that I quite liked the top shown at the top of this page a short while back on one of the OTC threads. Please disregard the junk behind me, but what do you think?

Ooh, that top really suits you! *is jealous* ;-)
*drools a bit*
Oops, so sorry. Let me wipe that up. . .
I hope you had a good time waving your sword at people last night! Did you get to decapitate any evildoers?
Wowza!
And I see at least two dragons behind you in that picture. I was taught never to ignore dragons. So either I ignore you and your request to ignore those dragons, or I ignore those dragons.
Ahhh! I can't win!!!!
Okay, Tah. If you're having that much trouble, you can pay attention to the background. And there's seven dragons in that photo (not including myself). Some of them are just rather well hidden.
I think I see at least eleven dragons, not counting the red-headed one in the blue velvet. But then, I have the advantage of having seen higher resolution pictures of that same background, although sadly not of that same dragon in that same blue velvet top. ;-)
I also see a number of cards and envelopes that look oddly familiar. . .
Pretty outfit Smerk :)
Pretty Smerk, too. ;-)
I could only ID two for sure. Looking, I can guess where/what some others are. (Since my wife and I have several dragons around the house I'm familiar with some of their hiding techniques. ;-) )
Loving the top :)
And the light fitting is gorgeous!! I love those sort of designs, rubbish at most arty things myself :(
Ooh, the top looks fantastic Smerk!
And I hope you get holidays soon, don't burnout!
