It's been a while

A long while. I know. I just felt that I've not had anything worth writing about. Or just not felt like writing. I go through stages where I get very disinterested in sharing my boring little life with the world. It's one reason why I've never had any success in keeping a diary for a full year. Best I managed was six months, back in year 12.

Anyhow, what's been going on? Not a huge amount, hence why I've not been writing anything. Work's been kinda mad, what with the new financial year and us being short-staffed. We currently running a busy accounting firm with three fully qualified accounts (two of which have the experience to back up the qualifications - one of which is the boss), one student accountant - she's on her second year of university and only in two days a week, and myself, who has absolutely no qualifications in accounting, and doesn't want any. Anyhow, the boss has several other commitments, which has seen her flying all over Australia this month, which has made things awkward. The inexperienced, qualified accountant keeps making major muck-ups on various jobs, leaving the other accountant to virtually re-do all her work. And the student doesn't have enough knowledge to do anything beyond some basic tax stuff, and keeps asking me for help for some reason.

September saw my parents fly off to the UK for seven weeks, leaving me to house- and puppy-sit. I was fearing that while they were away that I woudn't be able to cope, get freaked out by being on my own, and ending up in a complete mess. Instead, I had one panic attack once they'd left and I was on my own that first night, and really enjoyed the solitude. I didn't enjoy having to cook for myself, though. I don't eat huge amounts of food, and found that the couple of meals I did make from scratch managed to last me at least two meals. My parents (Mum in particular) were very appreciative with how well things went, and even expressed surprise at how clean and tidy the place looked when they got back...surprising, because if you ever saw my bedroom, you'd think I was a fairly messy person - it's organised mess, though!

October brought the Scottish invasion, and I really regret that I wasn't able to get time off work, due to the aforementioned chaos. Still, I spent the majority of two weekends with them all, even if a the weekends either end was just seeing them arrive or leave Australia.

I had my 28th birthday. For which I didn't do anything on the day itself. My parents were in France at the time, and forgot about the time difference, so didn't wish me a happy birthday until the following day. I've acquired a few more dragons for my collection, though. My sister got me a dragon that was very similar to one I already had - one of the Beanie Babies line. Same design, but different releases, with the one I'd already had being of the Astrology line, while the one Gail got was just of the regular line. Nettie was kind enough to shout me entry to the torch-lit tour at Fremantle Prison as her gift. That tour was excellent, and I have a very convincing, spooky photo which I must extract from my camera sooner rather than later.

And finally, Acci proposed to me over MSN this afternoon. Unexpected, in the extreme! And I said yes. Goodness knows when we'll actually get married, though. Acci wants to come out here, still, and meet all my family, and propose to me properly first. So probably not for a while.

And that, I think is a brief summary of what's been happening to me since June....
